Insurance Claims for Your Home

A home insurance claim has many parts. The damage you can see may be only part of it. This page explains what a home claim can cover and where to find help for each type of damage.
What a home claim can cover?
What you can claim depends on your policy. Read your policy schedule and wording. In general, a home claim can include:
- the structure of the house, such as the roof, walls, floors and ceilings;
- the contents, such as furniture, appliances and personal belongings;
- outbuildings, such as a garage or a shed, if your policy covers them;
- alternative accommodation while repairs are done, if your policy includes it.
Some policies set limits or exclusions. A Loss Assessor can review your cover and tell you what applies to your claim.
Common causes of home claims
Choose the type of damage that matches your problem:
- Fire damage and chimney fire claims
- Storm damage claims
- Flood damage claims
- Escape of water and burst pipe claims
- Escape of oil claims
The full list is below. If you are not sure which type your damage is, contact us and tell us what happened.
